If ‘never’ is basically short for ‘not ever’, can we have other words like ‘neven’ and ‘nonly’?
Monsters! Yeah! Owl Monsters!Well, I suppose there certainly is some overlap between the two groups. That’s not a terribly helpful opinion, though.
I am of the ‘prefering monster exterminators’ opinion!I think that’s what I’m edging slowly towards. I’ll have to put a bit more effort into the setting to make up for the lack of specificity, but it could pay off. And it does get rid of the whole exterminating owls thing. I do like owls, after all.
Thinking of keeping with the poor-saps-put-in-a-dangerous-job-with-minimal-training line. In the future, after magic decided it wanted to exist after all (think Shadowrun or such like) there are some people who get to be heroes - slaying dragons, saving the world, getting the girl - and there are those who have to clear out Rust Monsters from the nuclear power plant before they reach the coolant.
Yes. I rather like this.
Bear Owls are totally staying, though.
Now I just need to find someone willing to do AD&D-style monster illustrations…I do very much like the notion of under-equipped
foolsvolunteers clearing out monsters.Woah, now. They still get paid.
And occasionally they’re over-equipped. Spoiler: That’s just as dangerous.
Vouchers redeemable in the company gift-shop don’t really count as payment.
Not even when they’re redeemable for flamethrowers?

I’ve had a rather different opinion from someone on the book of faces:
Owl Exterminators is a brilliant name and focus, and what’s wrong with being weird and whimsical? All you need to do is make some of the owls more monstery. Like the Bearowl. Give us owls that are toxic, that are giant, that are magic.
I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE.

(Or, maybe, you know, I didn’t see your reblog because you hadn’t written it yet.)
I hate to break this to you, but literally all words are made up. They’re tools used to communicate concepts, and occasionally a new concept arises and we need to create a word for it. Like transsexual. Or cissexual. Or transmisogyny. That’s just how language evolves. Bonus example: butthurt. But arguing against the words I use is kinda pointless, because generally I can just use alternatives. To wit, you are being both transphobic (or cissexist; take your pick) and misogynistic.
Now if you wanted to argue that transmisogyny, as a concept, doesn’t exist, or that you’re not guilty of it, then at least you’d be being intellectually honest. You wouldn’t get very far but at least it’s better than suggesting that someone’s perception of reality is wrong simply because they’re using words you’re unfamiliar with.
And, sadly, claiming that you don’t “hate trannies” doesn’t really stand up to much when you unfailingly use the word “trannies”, a hateful slur, to describe trans* people. And when you dismiss their taking offence as being “butthurt” etc.. Is this clear enough?there’s one thing I agree with your interpretation on: I don’t typically give a shit what people think of this or that word. I don’t say nigger A. because there are no blacks with whom I have a problem having anything to do with their blackness and B. because the word actually has an offensive context/history. the trannies I’m criticizing are so draconian in their word policing that a few will blow their shit if you don’t say ‘xi’ instead of fuckin he.
thick skin people. grow some. the only remotely “offensive” word I use is fag. but an obviously gay man liked one of my posts so it clearly isn’t as much of a problem for them.
also this is the second time I’ve responded but the first time wasn’t showing up so if it does later, well, lahdeefuckindah.
Wat.
No. Seriously. What?
It’s like you’re wearing your bigotry with pride. Pride and a large badge that reads “Not A Bigot, Honest”.
